BENEFITS OF DIGNICAP® SCALP COOLING SYSTEM FEATURED IN CLINICAL JOURNAL OF ONCOLOGY NURSING

Dignitana was prominently featured in the August 2017 peer-reviewed Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing.  “Scalp Cooling: The Prevention of Chemotherapy-Induced Alopecia” by Anne Katz, PhD, RN, FAAN, offers positive updates from and for clinicians about the benefits and efficacy of scalp cooling interventions since the DigniCap® Scalp Cooling System initially received FDA Clearance in 2015.

In the article, Dr. Katz presents an overview of evidence supporting clinical intervention to prevent chemotherapy related alopecia and provides insight into how the DigniCap® Scalp Cooling System and other similar devices function. The article provides a review of literature substantiating the efficacy and safety of scalp cooling, including risk for scalp metastasis, and highlights evidence-based findings to guide temperature, process time and hair care protocols.

“Integrating new technology into any medical facility requires planning, precision and clinical preparation,” said Josie Divers, R.N., VP Clinical Oncology Services, Dignitana Inc. “We at Dignitana are dedicated to training and supporting our clinical partners so they are able to easily and efficiently integrate this life-changing medical procedure into their daily routines. As Dr. Katz affirms, scalp cooling not only offers hope that hair loss can be prevented, anecdotal evidence strongly points to less patient distress and altered quality of life for cancer survivors.”
